Importing Clients

How do I import my Clients?

If you already have a list of clients, WP-Client makes it fast and easy to import them. You can do this from the Clients Tab under the Clients menu.

To import, you must first have a list of clients in a CSV format file. You can create this format from any spreadsheet application such as Microsoft Excel, OpenOffice Calc, or Google Spreadsheet. Your CSV file should be formatted to look like the following:

user_login user_pass contact_name biz_name user_email phone send_password
alpha pass123 Andy Alpha, Inc. 800-867-5309 1
bravo pass123 Billy Bravo, Inc. 800-867-5309 0
charlie pass123 Chuck Charlie, Inc. 800-867-5309 1
delta pass123 Dean Delta, Inc. 800-867-5309 0

If you need a template to help you with your client import, you can find one attached to this post.

Instructions for creating CSV:

Open Office (recommended): Click HERE.

From the Clients Tab under the Members menu, select the 'Import/Export' button.

From there select the 'Import' button, select what type of users you would like to import and navigate to your CSV file and select it. Click the button labeled Continue.

You will then proceed to step 2. You can check the contents of the CSV file, modify the delimiter, and set the first line as header if needed. Click the button labeled Continue to proceed.

You will then be prompted to match the columns to the defined WP-Client fields. You do this by dragging the fields on the right-hand side to the corresponding field on the left-hand side. You have the option to save this as a template for future imports. You can also choose to update existing clients using the data being imported.

If you would like to include an expiration date in the CSV (related to the Time Limited Clients Extension), you can add a column with the expiration date, and in the cells below you would want to include an expiration date, formatted in MM/DD/YYYY format (or DD/MM/YYYY, depending on your WordPress settings.

The 4-digit year format is the most important.). You can then add metadata on the left-hand side of step 3 so that you can match the column. The metadata for the expiration date is wpc_expiration_date.

If you are using Custom Fields and would like to include those in your CSV import, simply add the fields in their own columns to your CSV. Same with expiration date custom field’s slug should also be present the selection of metadata as well. Just add them and match them with the column on the right-hand side.

Click on the Continue button to proceed to the next step.

Lastly, you are given the option to select the managers, and client circles the newly imported clients will be assigned to. This is optional. Once done assigning click on run and import should commence.

Once the import completes, you will see each of your clients in the client list. Respective Hub and Portal Pages will have been created for each as well and can be found under the Start Pages and Portal Pages menu items if Auto-Create Portal Pages setting is turned on under WP-Client>Settings>Clients/Staff.
