Importing Staff

How do I import Staff?

In addition to importing Clients, WP-Client also gives you the option to import and assign Client's Staff users via CSV. You can do this from the "Client's Staff" Tab under the Members menu.

To import, you must first have a list of Staff in a CSV format file. You can create this format from any spreadsheet application such as Microsoft Excel, OpenOffice Calc, or Google Spreadsheet. Your CSV file should be formatted to look like the following:

user_login user_pass user_email first_name last_name send_password client_username
alphastaff pass123 andystaff@alpha.com Bob Jones 0 alpha
bravostaff pass123 billystaff@bravo.com Cindy Stevens 1 bravo
charliestaff pass123 chuckstaff@charlie.com Tammy Goodman 0 charlie
deltastaff pass123 deanstaff@delta.com Jim McGill 1 delta

If you need a template to help you with your Staff import, you can find one HERE

Instructions for creating CSV:

Microsoft Excel: Click HERE.

Apple iWork Numbers: Click HERE.

Open Office: Click HERE.

From the "Client's Staff" Tab under the Members menu, select the 'Import/Export' button.

From there select the 'Import' button, select what type of user you would like to import and navigate to your CSV file and select it. Click the button labeled Continue.

You will then proceed to step 2. You can check the contents of the CSV file, modify the delimiter, and set the first line as header if needed. Click the button labeled Continue to proceed.

You will then be prompted to match the columns to the defined WP-Client fields. To do this, drag the fields on the right-hand side to the corresponding field on the left-hand side. You have the option to save this as a template for future imports. You can also choose to update existing clients using the data being imported.

If you are using Custom Fields and need to include those in your CSV import, simply add the fields in their own columns to your CSV. You can click on “add staff meta field” and add the meta field for the custom field so that you can match the field to the column. The custom field’s slug should present the selection of metadata.

Click on the Continue button to proceed to the next step.

Lastly, you are given the option to select the clients that the newly imported client staff will be assigned to. This is optional. Once done assigning click on run and import should commence.

Once the import completes, you will see each Staff user in the Staff list.
