How do I set up SMTP with my provider?

WP-Client gives you control over how you send emails through different email sending methods. Access these settings from the “Email Sending” tab under the Settings menu.

To add a new profile, select a method on the dropdown menu, and click the “Add Profile” button. You can then fill-up the form and click on the “Save Profile” button.

You can edit an existing profile by clicking on the profile name. Fill up the form, and click on the “Update Profile” button.

To delete a profile, simply click on the “x” button beside the profile name.

You can send a test email using the form provided at the bottom area. It will use the current profile.

NOTE: After adding the profile, select which profile to activate via the “Sending Profile” dropdown menu on top. The profile won’t be used otherwise.

Email Sending Methods

There are four email methods supported by WP-Client which are Default WP, SMTP, Mandrill, and SendGrid.

Default WP

This method uses the default email sending settings of your Wordpress installation.


This is useful if you find the WP-Client email notifications sent from your domain being filtered out as spam by your Clients/Members.

The exact details will vary depending on whom you would like to use the SMTP. Here is an example article on setting up Gmail as an SMTP server:

Mandrill is an email infrastructure service offered as an add-on that you can use to send personalized, one-to-one e-commerce emails, or automated transactional emails. Basically you’ll just need an API key which you can get by logging in to your mandrill account.


SendGrid is similar to Mandrill in the sense that it is also a third party service. Same as Mandrill you’ll also need an API key that you can get from your SendGrid account.
